Accelerator Overview

Our three-month program is built to fast-track early-stage and post–proof-of-concept green and climatech startups into market-ready scalable ventures. Each cohort receives intensive training, mentorship from sector-specific experts, pilot testing opportunities, and direct access to investors, culminating in a high-profile Demo Day.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

We welcome applications from:

  • Green and climatech startups at seed stage with at least a Proof of Concept or Minimum Viable Product in place.

  • Ventures aligned with our focus areas, including renewable energy, energy storage solutions, smart grids solutions (Grid Management, Grid Optimization, Grid Maintenance etc.), hydrogen technologies, Agro photovoltaics, BIPVs, Organic, tandem, thin films, perovskite, semi-transparent PVs etc., SCADA automation – AI, Energy Efficiency – AI-optimized Energy systems, AI-optimized predictive maintenance systems, Smart Solar systems, Energy Storage -AI, EV Charging etc.

  • Startups ready to scale and open to collaboration with industry and investors.

Curriculum

The curriculum material is curated by Dr. Barak Ben-Avinoam, Managing Partner of BGV Israel, former CEO of Net Zero Tech Ventures, Israel.

A combination of twelve weekly meetings, both virtual and in-person to discuss the following topics:

  • Ideation process and idea validation techniques for Green and ClimaTech companies. Participants will learn and practice the usage of the Validation Board methodology.

  • Business Opportunity Analysis. Participants will learn and practice the usage of the Business Model Canvas methodology.

  • Financing and operational needs of early-stage Green and ClimaTech companies. Participants will learn and practice how to develop an operations plan and a budget.

  • Financing Sources. Participants will learn about the various grant alternatives, relevant seed-stage investors, and how to approach them.

  • Elevator Pitch and Investor Deck. Participants will practice their storytelling skills to ensure they are compelling and effective in their fundraising efforts.

  • The legal aspects of fundraising. Participants will learn key concepts of an investment Term Sheet and practice several negotiation techniques. All participants will take part in a negotiation simulation workshop.

  • Demo Day. A final pitch event in front of relevant investors, both live in Cyprus and virtually from remote locations.

Mentorship & Technical Coaching

During the training, startups will work with experienced mentors, apply learnings to gain traction, set and achieve key milestones.

Our dual approach combines GEG’s in-house expertise with a curated network of external mentors, including sector specialists, serial entrepreneurs, and investors. You’ll receive both technical guidance and strategic business advice, ensuring your startup is equipped for real-world growth.

GreenSyn Acceleration Program

Phase I: Deep Validation (Weeks 1-4)

 

Week 1: Industrial Problem Validation & Pilot Scoping

  • Theme: Align prototype with acute industrial customer pain points and define the scope of the first critical pilot.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Industrial Procurement Expert on procurement cycles and pain points; Hot Seat: Pilot Scoping Review.
  • Goal: Define 2 key metrics for pilot success.

 

Week 2: Technical & Operational Due Diligence

  • Theme: Identify technical risks and map the pathway to scaling and manufacturing the product post-pilot.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Engineering/Supply Chain Mentor on Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and risk mapping; Workshop: MRL Checklist & Risk Mapping.
  • Goal: Draft Risk Mitigation Plan and TRL/MRL progression timeline.

 

Week 3: Designing the Winning Business Model

  • Theme: Stress-test the revenue model to ensure it is attractive and scalable for long-term project finance.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Climate/Project Finance VC on Project Finance Basics; Peer Review: Business Model Canvas Refinement and Unit Economics Deep Dive.
  • Goal: Finalize Pricing Strategy for first commercial deployment.

 

Week 4: Securing the First Industrial Pilot

  • Theme: Master the art of selling a first-of-a-kind (FOAK) solution to a risk-averse industrial customer.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Corporate Innovation Lead on pilot contracting and de-risking; Pitch Practice: Pilot Pitch & Objections Handling.
  • Goal: Develop a Pilot Pitch Deck for a Corporate Champion.

 

 

Phase II: Go-to-Market & Scale (Weeks 5-8)


Week 5: Channel Strategy & Partnerships for Scale

  • Theme: Identify and activate the necessary channels (e.g., EPCs, Integrators) for mass deployment.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Channel Sales Expert on structuring partnerships (Reseller Agreements);
  • Workshop: Partner Value Proposition Design.
  • Goal: Partner Mapping: Identify 5 high-priority partners.

 

Week 6: Go-to-Market (GTM) Plan Finalization

  • Theme: Synthesize all validation points into a phased GTM plan for the next 18 months.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Cleantech Founder on successful GTM strategies; Hot Seat: GTM Plan Review and defining the beachhead market.
  • Goal: Final 18-Month GTM Roadmap.

 

Week 7: Non-Dilutive Funding & Grant Capture

  • Theme: Focus on accessing government and corporate grants to bridge the gap between prototype and commercial product.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Grant/Policy Expert; Workshop: Articulating Societal & Environmental Impact and Grant Budgeting.
  • Goal: Define Grant Strategy & Timeline for the next 12 months.

 

Week 8: Building the Investment Narrative (Pre-Seed/Seed)

  • Theme: Shift the focus from technical risk to commercial opportunity for potential equity investors.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Seed Stage Cleantech Investor on investor types and structuring the Ask; Workshop: Crafting the Traction Slide based on pilot data.
  • Goal: Revamp the Investment Story to focus on industrial pilot results.

 

Phase III: Investor Readiness & Demo Day (Weeks 9-12)


Week 9: Financial Projections for Scalability

  • Theme: Build a robust financial model that satisfies investor due diligence requirements, accounting for long sales and deployment cycles.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Financial Modeler/CFO on project-based business modeling;
  • Hot Seat: 5-Year Financial Model
  • Goal: Stress-test 5-Year Financial Model against key assumptions.

 

Week 10: Pitch Deck Polish & Visual Storytelling

  • Theme: Refine the pitch deck to be concise, visually appealing, and highlight pilot-driven traction.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Communications/Pitch Coach on visualization; Peer Feedback: Slide Design and Flow.
  • Goal: Final Pitch Deck ready for distribution.

 

Week 11: Due Diligence & Investor Engagement

  • Theme: Prepare for the formal fundraising process, including data room organization and legal preparations.
  • Focus: Deep Dive with Legal Counsel/Diligence Expert on IP and contract documentation; Mock Pitch Q&A Session.
  • Goal: Data Room Checklist fully populated and organized.

 

Week 12: Demo Day Preparations & Next Steps

  • Theme: Preparation for a Demo Day, the culminating pitch event to a live audience of investors, partners, and decision-makers.
  • Focus: Final Pitch Presentation Rehearsal
  • Goal: Successful presentation Rehearsal and clear 90-Day Post-Program Action Plan.

 

Demo Day & Graduation Ceremony

  • Theme: A culminating pitch event to a live audience of investors, partners, and decision-makers.
  • Focus: Final Pitch Presentation, networking with pre-selected stakeholders, and next-step planning.
  • Goal: Successful presentation, followup meetings with interested parties (investors, stakeholders, potential clients).
